The Montreal Expos are the 1982 NL Champions! The Expos defeated the San Diego Padres today in Game 4 of the NLCS 4-0. The starters, Scott Sanderson for Montreal and Dave Dravecky for San Diego, were locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th inning. In the top of the 7th Andre Dawson reached base on an error. Al Oliver then walked and Dravecky was replaced by Luis Deleon. Deleon got Gary Carter to fly out and struck out Tim Wallach. Then, with 2 outs, the next batter Chris Speier, just cleared the leftfield wall for a 3-run homer. Montreal added a run in the 8th and Jeff Reardon pitched the final 2 innings to secure the Win, giving the Expos the NL Pennant.

In a game for the baseball purist, Scott Sanderson(1-0) and Dave Dravecky(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Montreal Expos finally emerged
victorious over San Diego Padres, 4 to 0. Chris Spier hit a 3 run homer in the 7th
for the go ahead runs.
Sanderson put on a good performance. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 3 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Sanderson chalked up 8
strikeouts. Montreal managed only 6 hits on the afternoon.
