Dan Petry and the Detroit Tigers evened the 1982 ALCS at 1 game apiece by defeating the California Angels 7-2 tonight in Anaheim. Petry was very strong on the mound pitching a complete game for the Win. California jumped out to an early lead in the 1st inning scoring an unearned run after a 2 base error by leftfielder Larry Herndon. Detroit struck for 4 runs in the 4th, the big hit a 2-run homer by Mike Ivie. That would be all Petry would need in evening the Series 1-1.
The Series will now move to Detroit. Jerry Ujdur (13-6, 3.57) will start for the Tigers. Bruce Kison (9-7, 2.53) starts for California.
