1982 NL Game and Standings: Cin. @ SD

  The San Diego Padres played a NL season record 21 innings tonight before defeating the Cincinnati  Reds 2-1. The Win allowed the NL West leading Padres to hold off the hard charging Los Angeles Dodgers for a least 1 more game and reduced their Magic # to 2. LA has been 9-1 lately, SD is 5-5.
 In the NL East, the 1st place St. Louis Cardinals lost their 7th game in a row today. Luckily for them Montreal also lost today, keeping the Expos 1.5 games behind.

Alan Wiggins had 2 base hits and Dave Dravecky had a strong outing at Jack
Murphy Stadium where the San Diego Padres beat the Cincinnati Reds in 21
innings by the score of 2 to 1.
 
Both teams were tied at 1 run apiece after nine innings.  San Diego won the
hard fought contest in the 21st inning.  Tony Gwynn singled.  Garry Templeton
stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a base-hit.  Rick Lancellotti
then drew a walk to load the bases.  Kurt Bevacqua was up next and he laced a
one-base hit giving San Diego the victory as 50,162 happy fans celebrated
wildly.  Overall San Diego out-hit Cincinnati 13 to 7.  
 
Tim Lollar(19-9) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. The
loss was charged to Greg Harris(2-8) in relief.  He pitched 3 innings
allowing 3 hits and 3 walks.
