At Memorial Stadium the Baltimore Orioles outscored the Kansas City Royals 8
to 5.
Baltimore had 7 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning with the help of 6
hits. The biggest moment was provided by Eddie Murray who excited the crowd
when he electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home run. Kansas City was
not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory
eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win
ballgames.
Tippy Martinez(1-0) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory.
Dan Quisenberry(0-1) took the loss in relief. He was unable to control the
Baltimore offense and allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
