In a thriling finish the blistering-hot Atlanta Braves pulled off the win over
the Chicago Cubs by a score of 6 to 3 at Fulton Co Stadium.
Atlanta scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs. After an out was recorded, Glenn Hubbard opened up the rally as he
drew a walk. After another out, Dale Murphy came up and he drew a walk. Bob
Horner then belted a three-run homer resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Atlanta and the 30,160 home town fans in attendance. Atlanta and Chicago
each finished the night with 8 hits.
The winning pitcher was Steve Bedrosian(6-2) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. The loss was charged to Ken Kravec(0-1) in relief. He pitched 2/3 of
an inning allowing 1 hit and 2 walks.

Bill Madlock went deep as the Pittsburgh Pirates bested the Houston Astros 7
to 2 at Three Rivers Stadium.
Pittsburgh scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of 3
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Mike Easler who brought a roar from
the partisan Three Rivers Stadium fans when he launched a rocket-shot out of
the park for a Grand Slam homerun. Pittsburgh had a total of 11 hits for the
