Catcher Lance Parrish hit 2 doubles and Jack Morris shut down the Toronto
batters on just 5 hits as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays
in 11 innings by the score of 1 to 0 at Tiger Stadium.

The score was knotted at zero after nine innings. Detroit came out the victor
in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Larry Herndon lined a
base-hit. Parrish stepped into the batter's box and he doubled giving
Detroit the victory and sending the 35,149 home-town fans home happy.
Detroit finished with 8 hits in the victory.

For Morris(17-9) it was his 3rd shutout this year. Dave Stieb(10-8) was
charged with the loss. When questioned about his counterpart after the game,
Stieb was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were
going to be in for a long night. Morris brought his 'A' game with him - he
had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one
or two bad pitches the entire game!
