Third baseman Bill Madlock smashed 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI and Rick Rhoden
came through with a solid 9 innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates clobbered the
outmatched San Diego Padres, 15 to 2.

Madlock had a great evening at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every
move. He doubled in the 3rd inning, launched a three-run homer in the 5th
inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. Pittsburgh
provided plenty of action in the 6th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3
hits and the 7th inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits. Pittsburgh kept the
pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

The winning pitcher was Rhoden(6-3) who allowed 2 runs for the game. John
Curtis(2-5) absorbed the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 5 innings.
